Legalization.vn provides consulting and support services for the consular legalization of Vietnamese documents so that they can be recognized and used in Slovakia
In order for Vietnamese documents to be recognized and legally used in Slovakia, the process of consular certification and consular legalization must be fully completed in accordance with the regulations of both countries.
1. Consular Certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam:
Carried out at the Consular Department (Hanoi) or the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City for originals or certified true copies issued by the authority that issued the original document.
2. Translation of the consular certified documents into Slovak:
The translation must be done by one of the certified Slovak national translators. The translated document must be attached to the original document that has been consular certified.
3. Consular Legalization by the Embassy of Slovakia in Vietnam:
After being certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translated into Slovak, the document must be legalized by the Slovak Embassy in Vietnam to be valid for use in Slovakia.
According to the regulations of the Slovak Embassy in Vietnam, only documents that meet the following mandatory criteria will be accepted for legalization:
The document must be an original or a certified copy issued by the authority that issued the original.
It must be consular certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam (Consular Department or Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City) on the original or certified copy issued by the original issuing authority.
It must be translated into Slovak by one of the certified Slovak national translators, attached to the document already certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
Note: All documents requiring consular legalization by the Slovak Embassy must be registered in order to schedule an appointment, similar to the appointment registration for Slovak visa applications.
Applications for national visas (type D) related to residence permit applications; and
Applications for residence permits (under Act No. 404/2011 Coll. on the Residence of Foreigners).
One applicant applies for one appointment registered through the electronic system:
https://appointment.mzv.sk/appointment/
The random draw registration to determine the appointment date is conducted on the first Friday of every odd-numbered month.
The applicant may submit only one application for one appointment (to apply for a national visa or residence permit) for themselves and any accompanying family members who will apply for the same type of application (national visa or residence permit).
A maximum of 500 applicants can register within the allocated time. Once the number of registrations or the time limit is reached, no additional applications will be accepted.
Registration is free of charge.
When registering, the applicant/legal representative:
Must provide detailed information of the applicant and accompanying persons (family members) applying for the same type of application (national visa or residence permit).
Note: You cannot list multiple individuals applying for a national visa or residence permit on the same form unless they are applying for the same type and for family reunification.
Accompanying persons are those who will submit their applications at the Embassy for a national visa or residence permit for the purpose of family reunification with the main applicant. If an appointment is granted to the main applicant, the same appointment is automatically granted to the accompanying persons.
If a family member applies for a purpose other than family reunification, they are not considered an accompanying person and must submit a separate application.
Must upload a copy of the identity page of a valid travel document for the applicant and any accompanying persons (family members) to the form.
After completing all required information and attaching the copy(es) of travel document(s), the applicant submits the registration by clicking the “Register” button.
Upon successful registration, a registration number will be generated and displayed. The applicant must remember and save this number.
Information on the selected registration numbers and appointment dates at the Embassy will be published on the website of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Hanoi under the section “Lottery Results”.
If the selected applicant fails to appear on the assigned appointment date, the appointment will be canceled.
The appointment date cannot be changed or postponed, and the applicant for a national visa or residence permit cannot be replaced. The purpose of the application also cannot be changed.
Registration does not guarantee an appointment.
In each registration round, if the number of applicants exceeds the number of appointments available, only those whose serial numbers are drawn from the pool of applications will be scheduled.
If your registration number is not selected, you will not receive an appointment.
There is no appeal process for the lottery results.
If your number is not selected, you may register again in the next round under the same conditions.
For Vietnamese judicial records to be consular legalized for use in Slovakia, the Slovak Embassy only accepts judicial records issued within 3 months from the date of submission.
Therefore, you should register for an appointment and wait until the lottery result is confirmed before applying for your judicial record. Since there is usually a 1–2 month gap between the lottery result and the actual appointment date, applying for the judicial record before obtaining the appointment may result in it expiring by the time it is submitted, in accordance with Slovak regulations.
