1. Consular Certification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam

Certification is conducted at:

• Consular Department (Hanoi), or

• Department of External Relations – Ho Chi Minh City,

for either:

• Original documents, or

• Copies reissued by the original issuing authority.

2. Consular Legalization by the Embassy of Germany in Vietnam

After the documents have been certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, they must be submitted to the Embassy of Germany in Vietnam for legalization in order to be legally valid for use in Germany.

According to the regulations of the Embassy of Germany in Vietnam, only documents that meet all of the following mandatory conditions will be accepted for consular legalization:

• The document must be either:

  • The original, or

  • A copy reissued by the original issuing authority.
    (Notarized copies are not accepted.)

• The document must have been certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam
  (either by the Consular Department in Hanoi or the Department of External Relations in Ho Chi Minh City),
  on the original or the reissued copy.
